Now I am truly in trouble I just love these ones and can’t wait to get home and make one. I did make the Unicorn ones and they sold like hotcakes at the Arts and Craft fair. These are truly a work of art and thank you, Staci, for bringing her on board. Mary

  13. Nora James on January 21, 2018 at 2:37 pm

Your crowns are beautiful, but you didn’t show how to put the strips of fabric on to the hemi before putting the points around

    • Monica Mihajlovic on January 21, 2018 at 5:00 pm

Hi Nora! Since adding a band to the ornament is a topic that is covered in the pattern tutorials, I left that part out in an effort to keep this quick video tip somewhat short. Hope you found the ideas helpful and inspirational! 😊

    • Carmen on March 16, 2018 at 10:52 pm

Yes that’s what I want to know to it looks like they’re over lapping side way

      • Monica on April 17, 2018 at 3:57 am

Hi Carmen! I apparently missed seeing this comment sooner; I’m sorry. The top area of the crown ornament was completed using the “Windmill” ornament pattern , which is available exclusively on the Ornament Girl website. The Windmill tutorial demonstrates how to complete the pattern step-by-step. However, almost any other ornament pattern would work, including the Basic Star Pattern, which is available as a free workshop at http://www.theornamentgirl.com
I hope this helps! Happy Ornament-ing!

      My pleasure, Robyn!😊👑

  15. Kimberly on January 21, 2018 at 9:03 pm

This is absolutely gorgeous! I can’t wait to start making them. I am new to this and am just starting out with the basic star ornament. Where can I learn how to do the unicorn ornament too?!? It was great!

    • Monica Mihajlovic on January 24, 2018 at 5:05 pm

Hi Kimberly! The unicorn video is available to all Ornament Girl club members via the club website, on the “Ornament Workshops” page. Non-club members receive a link to the unicorn video as a bonus when they purchase the “Iris” ornament pattern. Hope this helps! 🙂

  16. Renee on January 23, 2018 at 11:26 am

Love the ornament!!! But in order to make it you still need to know how to do the windmill pattern. Do you have to order the instructions?

    • Monica Mihajlovic on January 24, 2018 at 5:00 pm

Hi Renee! Yes, the Windmill pattern tutorial can be purchased separately. However, you could use almost any ornament pattern on top of the crown, including Staci’s “Basic Star” pattern which is covered in her (free) video workshop series.

I was going to use a 4″ hemi. What width would I use or how many inches to add to your original pattern?

    • Monica Mihajlovic on January 27, 2018 at 6:39 am

Hi Donna! Since the pattern will need to cover about 1″ more than a 3″ ball, I suggest adding between 1/2″ – 1″ of length to each fabric piece. And for width, I suggest an extra 1/4″ (as a starting point) and then make adjustments as needed. It can take a bit of trial and error to discover the best sizes to use for various hemis, so I suggest NOT cutting all of your fabric pieces until you know for sure what sizes work best. (I speak from experience!) Hope this helps to get you started. Enjoy making your crown!

I think these would be lovely decor for a baby shower. And then they can be displayed in the baby’s room afterward.

    • Monica Mihajlovic on February 11, 2018 at 7:23 pm

I agree, Lisa! I’ve had several friends tell me they would love one included in their baby’s room decor!

  19. Carmen on March 16, 2018 at 10:45 pm

R ur fabric piece straight or r they elongated triangle for the top ,and can u hang on tree as ornament at Christmas

    • Monica Mihajlovic on March 17, 2018 at 7:49 pm

Hi Carmen! Yes, you could certainly add a hanger to the top of the crown and hang it up if you wish! And all of the fabric cuts and dimensions would depend on whatever pattern you decided to use on the top. (The Windmill pattern was used in these examples).

  20. Rachel on August 10, 2018 at 4:16 pm

Love the crowns. Especially the honey bee one. I raise honey bees. Do you have a kit of that one? Would love to buy it.
