This video will show you how to divide your ball into 5 segments, no matter what size or brand ball you're using.

(We divide the ball into 5 segments for patterns like the Spiral Pattern.)

You will need...

  • A strip of paper long enough to wrap around the ball (or, use the printable strips found under the video!)
  • Paper scissors
  • Pen/Pencil/Marker
  • A couple of pins

OR.. for 3" foam balls, just use the Printable Template right below the video!

I hope you find this video helpful. 🙂

If your ball does not have the North & South Poles and/or the Equator marked, we have a video tutorial showing you how to find these points, right HERE.

If you are using an Ornament Girl Foam Ball (either from the shop, or from one of our kits, you can use THIS pre-made strip to mark your foam balls!

Just print it out, cut out the strips, and use the pre-marked lines to mark your ball.

These are all so very good. I am really going to enjoy making these for my friends. I work at the Hands of Hope Food Bank, and I want to do things for the clients we have. I thought they would be a nice gift for them to give to their families especially using pictures.

To make your sums simple, if you times your inches by 8 then add the extra eighths and divide by the amount of segments you want eg. your ball was 9 and 5/8 so you do 9×8 which turns your inches into eights which comes out at 72 add the extra 5/8 for a total of 77 divide your total by five to give you 15.4 eights so that’s approx 1 7/8 per segment

Will these balls be made available again any time soon?

Hi there, our foam order has been delayed in shipping and it may be a few months. So sorry for an inconvenience this may cause.

    Hi,
I love making all the wonderful ornaments that you have shown. Can you please tell me where to find the link for which pattern goes with which segment ball? This would be a great tool to keep me organized.
Thanks for all your creativity ideas and design.
