An easy way to divide your ball into 6 equal segments, no matter what size ball you're using!

You will need...

  • A strip of paper long enough to wrap around the ball (or, use the printable strips found under the video!)
  • Paper scissors
  • Pen/Pencil/Marker
  • A couple of pins

If your ball does not have the North & South Poles and/or the Equator marked, we have a video tutorial showing you how to find these points, right HERE.

If you are using an Ornament Girl Foam Ball (either from the shop, or from one of our kits, you can use THIS pre-made strip to mark your foam balls!

Just print it out, cut out the strips, and use the pre-marked lines to mark your ball.

Another great video Staci. You make it look so easy by your step-by-step demonstration. Takes some of the fear out of doing it myself. Thank you.

My youngest son did a video of his family’s decorated Christmas tree with handmade ornaments I’ve sent them over the years. It included a narrative and closeup for each one. It was lovely and I was delighted.
But he finished by saying he couldn’t wait to see what I would add to their collection this year.
I put gifts away for bday gifts and went through my stash to find some ornament ingredients. I’ve made everything imaginable – rustic wood, angel, gnomes, vintage, beaded tassels, dot paints, poured paint, etc. I have always wanted to make a no sew fabric ornament, but was stymied by the geometry. I was thrilled to find someone that made dividing the ball (later an egg) easy to do. You even provided a free template! Bless you.
I am 76 years old and a mother (3 grown) grandmother (8 grown) and great-grandmother (15 from ages 2-14) so I don’t move quickly. But I went through my craft cabinet and got to work. Thanks to your help, I am halfway through my list I two days. They should be done and mailed by this weekend. When I get the time, I will send you photos. So happy to have found you! Thanks!

    • Sarah Cinocco on December 9, 2023 at 3:48 pm

Hi Brenda, thanks for reaching out! I’m not exactly sure what you are looking for. Are you you trying to find the Basic Star pattern? Or did you need help finding the printable strips to mark a 3″ ball into 6 segments?
