Thank you for these videos! I have made quite a few of these but your details were very helpful. I have problems with the bell shape but I think they are beautiful. The one that I made turned out beautiful but it was frustrating. Thanks again!

      • Vicki Freeze on December 25, 2019 at 11:45 am

I will be trying one ornament starting tomorrow. I am excited to start something new. Thank you also for the wonderful videos.

    • Cathy Silveria on November 22, 2017 at 7:57 am

Hi Stacy, I Just finished the basic star workshop and can’t wait to start another one. One question about the hanger; is the pin strong enough to hold the ornament without any other support?

      Thanks,
      Cathy

      • Olivia on July 29, 2018 at 2:12 pm

That was the issue I had. The ornament was too heavy for the hanger

      • Joan Leonard on March 14, 2020 at 3:37 pm

Thank you so much for the great videos. I certainly learned a lot. My ornament turned out great.

    • Maria Alonso on January 19, 2021 at 1:58 am

What is the best glue to glue the pins with the bow ribbons and the hanger to the ornament when sticking them in?

      • Shirley Brunner on October 11, 2021 at 9:23 am

I use Aleens “The Ultimate “ glue. It only takes a small dot on the top where your band comes together. Push your pin into the kglue while it’s still wet. sometimes I put a small amount between bows if my ribbon is a little thicker. I also use an extra long pin so it goes deeper into the ball. Hope this helps. BTW I get the glue at Hobby lobby or Joanns.

        • Janelle - Ornament Girls Club on October 11, 2021 at 8:50 pm

Great tip. Thanks for sharing it!

    • Linda DeSousa on March 6, 2021 at 11:20 pm

    Loved it! Thanks for sharing!

    • StaciAnn Lowry on October 1, 2017 at 6:35 pm

      You’re very welcome! 🙂

    • Lin on November 15, 2017 at 4:58 pm

Love your videos. I think you make it look so easy! Thanks Also wanted to know if the hanger needs to be glued so it will stay in place if you decide to hang it on you tree?

      Thanks so much
      Lin

      • StaciAnn Lowry on November 16, 2017 at 8:56 pm

Lin, I don’t use glue there often. Usually the hanger will stay in place just fine without it. But, if the ornament is particularly heavy (like if you used a heavy-weight fabric, or a lot of embellishments), then a dab of glue beneath the hanger won’t hurt 🙂

    • Evelyn Niehaus on February 3, 2021 at 12:28 am

I have watched the Basic Star ornament video several times but haven’t made an ornament yet. I didn’t have all of the supplies.I have everything now but had an afghan and quilt top to finish. I know when I start the ornaments there will be no stopping. I used to make Barbie dresses and have fabric so am really looking forward to get started. Love all your ornaments and I have some of the same fabrics you have. We must shop at the same stores. Where do you find your beautiful trims? Look forward to see your ornament each day.

      • Janelle - Ornament Girls Support on February 5, 2021 at 6:56 pm

Hi Evelyn, I spoke with Staci Ann and she gets most of it via Hobby Lobby and JoAnn craft stores. Some are through wholesalers but she does get many from those two stores. I hope that is helpful? Have a wonderful day and happy ornamenting!

  3. Nancy L Webb on October 1, 2017 at 5:44 am

  8. Karen on October 1, 2017 at 12:03 pm

What a great. easy way to make a bow! But are you concerned about the hanger coming off? Could you perhaps use a dot of glue on the end of that pin? Thank you,

    • StaciAnn Lowry on October 1, 2017 at 6:39 pm

Yes, you sure can. If the ornament is particularly heavy (for example, if you used a heavy-weight fabric), you could add a dot of glue right over the top bow, before adding the pearl pin and hanger. But, I will say that I have rarely ever had an issue with the hanger popping off. They will normally stay in pretty snugly. 🙂

  9. Carriean on October 1, 2017 at 12:08 pm

  11. Martha on October 1, 2017 at 12:25 pm

I have made many of these ornaments in the past but you have inspired me to give it a go again. I can see so many more ornaments in my future, and they will be prettier than the ones in my past you. This was a great tutorial and I thank you for the very clear and precise directions.

    • StaciAnn Lowry on October 1, 2017 at 6:45 pm

Martha, that makes me SO happy. Thank you so much for the compliment, and I am so glad you are going to try these again. That is exactly why I wanted to make these videos, so thank you again so much for this comment! 🙂

  12. Ann on October 1, 2017 at 1:48 pm

Hi Staci, thank you so much for the videos. One question: my ornament doesn’t look perfectly round, more of an oblong round?? Don’t know how to describe it. Is that ok?? Thanks!

    • StaciAnn Lowry on October 1, 2017 at 1:56 pm

Hi Ann… Will you send me a quick picture, to staciann@theornamentgirl.com? I will take a look at it and see if I can figure out why it turned out that way. 🙂

Thanks so much for the videos StaciAnn! I started making these lovely ornaments a couple of years ago when I saw a promotion online and fell in love with the idea. You’ve created a wonderful array of ornaments to inspire your fans, it’s always a treat to see what you come up with every month. I look forward to creating lots more of these fabulous ornaments to give as gifts to family and friends, as well as thank you gifts to others.

  16. Ann on October 1, 2017 at 4:01 pm

Loved the videos and all the tips on how to make it more symmetrical. I was taught by a friend years ago on an old method but yours is so much easier and more attractive.

    • StaciAnn Lowry on October 1, 2017 at 6:48 pm

Ann, I’m so glad you liked these techniques. Thank you!

  17. Kim on October 1, 2017 at 4:47 pm

Your video is very well done. You speak clearly, your back ground is nice and white, not cluttered. Thank you for sharing it, much appreciated.

    • StaciAnn Lowry on October 1, 2017 at 6:48 pm

Thank you so much, Kim! 🙂

  18. Kim on October 1, 2017 at 4:48 pm

    Do you accept paypal?

    • StaciAnn Lowry on October 1, 2017 at 6:51 pm

I don’t accept PayPal for the membership, no. I’m sorry about that 🙁 I do accept it for one time purchases in my shop, but for subscriptions, PayPal is VERY difficult to manage, so I’ve stopped accepting it. I do accept all credit cards through another processor, which is First Data (very secure!)

      I’m sorry again about that..

  19. norma stone on October 1, 2017 at 5:17 pm

Can you please let me know where you found the gold sequin pins? I have been searching for gold pins for weeks!

    Thanks, Tina

    • StaciAnn Lowry on October 1, 2017 at 6:32 pm

Tina, those are from Crafty Elephant. You can find the direct link right to those pins in the Online Resource Guide under Video One. They are great pins and the seller is super nice, too! Hope that helps. 🙂

  24. Lana S Pressley on October 1, 2017 at 7:29 pm

Stacy, your ornaments are fantastic and I am deffinitely gonna try this one to see is I can do this. I do Indian bead work and I also do beaded ornaments so this is right down my alley. The possibilites are endless. Thank you for showing this video and your explanations were so clear. You are a Gem!

  25. Kandy Crowe on October 1, 2017 at 7:49 pm

Showed my first ornament to a friend today, and she was impressed. She’s doing flat work with folded fabric, so she knows a little of the technique. The last video started right up! I found some of the smooth 3″ balls and got more pins (and used a 50% off coupon at JoAnn’s!) today. Going to start a new one now and fix all the ‘oopses’ I made yesterday. Having so much fun. Thank you!

  26. Sandee Barnett on October 1, 2017 at 8:14 pm

Thank you Staci for posting this workshop. I can not wait to start making my ornaments. I tried to do it myself before, but this is so much easier. You are a very good teacher and explained everything very well. Again thank you

  27. Jo on October 1, 2017 at 9:39 pm

Hi, Staci. Great video series. Very informative. I’m trying to find the little glass peppermint candy beads you showed. Could you tell me where you got them? I’ve searched online but haven’t been able to find them. Thanks.

    • StaciAnn Lowry on October 23, 2017 at 7:13 pm

Hi Katherine… I actually bought them at JoAnns, but it was a few years ago. They were in the beading/jewelry section, and it was during the holiday season. I hope that helps!

Just spent a lovely afternoon making my first ornament from your videos. I’m very happy with the result & found your instructions so easy to follow. Thank you for sharing your skills & passion. I’m hooked now!
I live in Australia so will look for some Aussie fabric to see if I can make a truly Down Under ornament.

  60. Tammie Woods on October 25, 2017 at 5:53 am

Once again Thank YOU! Do you have a certain time of the month where joining is usually open? I would love to see an example of some of the kits (it could be from last year) All of these are just BEAUTIFUL 🙂

  61. Patti Ritter on October 25, 2017 at 6:59 pm

A friend gave me a kit of yours that she bought 2 years ago and never made. So I have all the supplies but no directions. It is Issue #1 – November 2015. It is a blue snowflake on white fabric with solid blue accent fabric. Would it be possible to get the directions for this ornament?

Loved this video series. I have always admired these type of ornaments, but never knew how they were done. I’m very excited to know how easily they are done and my head is already spinning with ideas of what to make.

    Thank you!

What size pearl pin are you using that goes on top of the ribbon?

  63. Deolinda Gomes on November 5, 2017 at 7:30 pm

Thank you so much for all the videos I always wanted to make one but thought it would be hard to
Make even though I’m a quilter , I went out got fabric some supplies since I had some already and I cut all fabric yesterday night now going attempt to do it today, so if I join with the basic membership will
You supplie list what is needed and would like to know if I can still sign up get the candy cane red white ornament instructions of this month , since I have a lot fabric

  64. Peggy Ford on November 7, 2017 at 9:39 pm

Staci, I really enjoyed watching all three videos. I joined your Ornament Girls Club last December and was wondering if I can transfer from getting the complete kit to just getting the instructions, etc., that you mentioned in video 3! Or do I need to join the second option and cancel the first option? I have so much fabric as I’m a quilter and using my “scraps” was be an awesome way to put them to use!

Thank you for sharing your time and knowledge with us!

    • StaciAnn Lowry on November 7, 2017 at 9:59 pm

Peggy.. absolutely! We can do that for you on our end, so you don’t need to cancel/rejoin, or any of that. Would you like me to go ahead and process that for you beginning with the December kit? (and yes, I agree that using up your scrap stash is PERFECT for these patterns!!)

  65. Bertie Louise Martin on November 8, 2017 at 1:46 pm

You have made making these ball so easy thank you. Just want to throw a suggestion out there to you. I get the nice ornaments hanger for regular balls push it through and hang that way. Again thank you.

  66. Dyan Swamp on November 9, 2017 at 6:11 am

A wonderful set of videos. Thank you! I am interested in joining.

  67. Cindy on November 10, 2017 at 5:12 pm

Love this and so easy to follow. Hoping my finger tip hardens so pushing pins is easier!

  68. Donna on November 12, 2017 at 7:09 pm

Great videos and I can’t wait to start making some ornaments. Do you ever have a problem with the pins pulling out in the bow and hanger?

    • StaciAnn Lowry on November 13, 2017 at 3:59 am

I don’t, but if you want a little extra security, you can add a dot of glue between the last bow, and the hanger. 🙂

  69. Claudia Diaz on November 14, 2017 at 9:50 pm

    thanks infinity

  70. Alice Castro on November 15, 2017 at 12:57 pm

ENJOY YOUR WORKSHOP LEARN A LOT.THANK YOU.

  71. Nancy Swift, Virginia, USA on November 18, 2017 at 8:38 pm

Great video! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! My only question was about being able to review the videos, and you already answered that! So despite the sore fingertips, I plan on making more ornaments. It took me only 3 hours today. Ah! I did think of a question….where can I post a photo of my masterpiece?

  72. Lee McFarlane on November 19, 2017 at 12:49 am

What a gift these free videos are. Nicely done, easy to understand, and VERY enlightening. I’ve made one of these ornaments before with instructions that had complicated folding and ironing instructions. I dreaded making another because the ironing of each little piece was tedious. But there’s no ironing here! No advance folding! You finger press and fold while you pin, and it’s sooooo much easier. Thank you for your tips and gracious helpfulness!

  73. Heather on November 23, 2017 at 6:21 am

Excellent workshop! Easy to follow and the pace was great. When I needed a few more minutes, I just paused it. Need to work on making things line up better, but I’m totally hooked. Thank you 🙂

  74. Sheila Murphy on November 24, 2017 at 10:01 pm

These videos have been FUNTASTIC! Thank you so much for taking the time to make these and share. I’m really looking forward to making some of these.

  75. Jill DeBow on December 1, 2017 at 4:25 am

Loved, loved, loved your videos! Can’t wait to get started – I really appreciate you sharing your creativity!

  76. Judy on December 1, 2017 at 6:50 pm

I absolutely loved your videos and especially how to make and add bows and embellishments…you are amazing and I appreciate you dearly StaciAnn.

I will be back!!! Merry Christmas!!!

  77. Angela on December 2, 2017 at 12:06 am

My biggest worry was how to make a bow. Thanks so much for the great explanation 🙂

  78. Elin on December 4, 2017 at 5:15 pm

My ornament came out beautiful but the two sides overlapped and made my center band look bulky. I think I’ll have to remove it and trim some more. I’ll keep that in mind when I make another one. Otherwise a fun project!!

  79. June Williams on December 10, 2017 at 2:43 pm

Thank you soooo much, you surely showed me how to make a simple bow, I have been tying mine and I might add I am a very bad bow tier. I love these ornaments, I have enough scraps to make thousands of ornaments ! An affordable gift to make, easy, handy to tote for on the road. Merry Christmas <3

  80. Jennifer on December 12, 2017 at 4:22 am

Thank you for the videos! I have made a few ornaments before but like your way better. I still struggle with finding the second side center point but get a bit closer with each one I make.

  81. Selene on December 14, 2017 at 12:07 am

I fully enjoyed your video. I learned a lot and I am excited to try your method. I watched several tutorials and I must say this one the easiest to follow and understand. Thank you so much for sharing your talent.

    • StaciAnn Lowry on December 27, 2017 at 9:18 pm

I am sorry about that, Joyce. I messed up and forgot to change that link. We re-open in just a few days, on Jan 1st. I am sorry again about that.

  88. Tami Lyon on January 9, 2018 at 11:19 pm

These are so pretty. I definitely am going to try this project. Your tutorials were very easy to understand, not to fast or to slow. I can’t wait to get started!

  89. Vicky on January 15, 2018 at 12:52 pm

Thank you so much! I enjoyed the videos and have already made two ornaments.

  90. Carmen on January 17, 2018 at 2:54 pm

Thank you so much for teaching me how to do this craft I’ve been wanting to do this for so long, I believe my grammie used to do this when I was younger and use all sequin all over the ball. It’s going to take me a few to do the second side, because it doesn’t come out even after the second layer lol but fun

  91. Beth Friend on January 19, 2018 at 4:32 am

Thanks for the video tutorials! I just finished #3 and I am going to the store in the morning to get supplies to try an ornament. I am thinking these would make great gifts for my sewing buddies. Also I just looked at the address listed and noticed you are in Port Charlotte. I used to live there!

  92. Leilani Ross-Bush on January 28, 2018 at 4:11 pm

Awesome tutorials! Love, the detail and insights. Just finished several for my tree this next Christmas and as a tribute to my late father, I have used one of his favorite cotton shirts in the design. Each of my siblings, nieces and nephews and their children will each receive an ornament with his shirt fabric. My mother quilted so this “star” pattern will represent both Mom & Daddy well! Thank you!

  93. Barbara on March 2, 2018 at 5:52 pm

Your tutorial is awesome! You made making this ornament so easy. As I went it got easier and I got better at hiding the pins!! I have four kits waiting and can’t wait to get started on my first one which is November!! Thanks!

  94. Judy Burghardt on March 11, 2018 at 9:01 pm

Hi Staci Ann. Where can I buy the pins and what size do I get? I really enjoyed watching the videos. Ordered the Basic Star e-pattern too. What about the ribbon/ Do you sell all of these things?

  95. Debbie Mattocks on March 17, 2018 at 11:03 pm

Just made my very first ornament! I enjoyed it very much and look forward to making more for family and friends! Your instructions are very clear and easy to understand.

Thank you so much Staci for showing us these videos, I really enjoyed watching and making this

  97. Beverly Gilmartin on April 11, 2018 at 2:50 pm

I just finished this ornament, your video was great. I had a few hiccups and had to rework it a few times it’s not perfect but I am sure I will get better as i go along. Your videos helped so much. I am totally hooked now and can’t wait to get my first kit.

  98. Debbie G on April 13, 2018 at 5:32 am

StaciAnn – You andyour videos are amazing! I enjoyed all 3. I do have a question: Is there a rule to follow for the size that fabric pieces should be depending on the size and shape of the ornament? I use mostly 2.5”-4” ornaments and in different shapes for my sequin and bead “vintage” ornaments and am looking forward to doing a quilted ornament soon. Thanks in advance! ~Debbie

  99. Jance F on May 10, 2018 at 9:45 pm

I just watched all three videos and I can’t wait to get the three ornaments done that i have been waiting to get them done from the kits I have. What fun it is! I am going to make from some friends I make for the women at the nursing home i was living in while I was

  102. Bobbi Jo Hardy on October 7, 2018 at 8:45 pm

With the other embellishments you did, how do you attach them?

    • StaciAnn Lowry on October 8, 2018 at 2:07 pm

Hi Bobbi Jo.. which embellishments were you wondering about?

  103. Patricia Mckenzie on October 7, 2018 at 9:50 pm

Just got my balls so I am late in getting started. MY embellishments arnt here yet but that’s ok. So we should get number 2 challenge on Monday? Looking forward to accomplishing these. Thanks Staci

Yes, Monday, and don’t worry about being behind! 🙂

  104. Pat Trudeau on October 22, 2018 at 3:07 pm

Just finished my first star ornament watching your videos. Mine isn’t perfect, but with practice, I’m sure I’ll improve. Have my first one hanging right next to me near my computer and sewing machine.

  105. Erin on November 10, 2018 at 3:36 am

    Hi Staci
What size are the gold Sequin Pins.?
    And beads.

    • StaciAnn Lowry on November 11, 2018 at 3:28 pm

Hi Erin… The pins are about 3/4″ and the beads are 3mm. Also, I’ve got links to these in the Supply Guide below the video. Hope that helps 🙂

  106. Joy on December 5, 2018 at 3:47 am

Oh my goodness!! Thank you so much for these videos. You explain EVERYTHING so clearly and well. I made some of these a couple of years ago for gifts for the family, and they all loved them. I like how you fold your fabric, though. I was folding completely in half, which made my fabric very thick, and sometimes hard to put the pins through. I love your technique much better.

Oh, and just a thought thrown out to others: I made my husband an ornament using fabric from his dad’s slacks. His dad passed away in 2007, and this ornament really means a lot to him. So making these with fabrics from deceased loved ones’ clothes is a nice way to share memories, too.

  107. Connie on December 12, 2018 at 4:56 am

I downloaded your tutorial last year. This year I finally have found some time. I put one together and it turned out ok. I think the next will be much easier. You are very precise, thank you for that. Loved all your ideas in video 3. I hope to make a few for friends and family.
I’m an avid sewer and cross stitcher. I will now add the ornaments to my craft cabinets and if I get better at the star I see more patterns in my future.

  108. Barbara on December 23, 2018 at 11:08 pm

Thank you for your videos. I can’t wait to make more ornaments. I have a a tip for you. I noticed that you used a round nosed pliers to open your jump rings when you made the chain to hang the charm. I make chain mail, and have more success using a flat nosed pliers or a bent nosed pliers. Most of the time I use both–one in each hand to open and close the rings. These pliers hold the rings more securely and mar the rings less.

  109. Jill on December 29, 2018 at 4:45 pm

Thank you so much for such a great tutorial!

My grandmother made these years ago and passed before I could learn how to make them. I always thought they would be too difficult to make but you have shown me that it is not difficult and that it just takes practice. The possibilities running through my mind are endless! LOL……

Please keep up the good work!

  110. Martha on February 25, 2019 at 11:27 pm

I LOVE your designs, your videos are so wonderful — thank you for the details… Thanks for showing how to embellish our ornaments. Is there a way I can purchase the little tree pattern? It is GORGEOUS! I am NEW to this site and your eClub, so I might ask questions that have already been answered somewhere on the site. I look forward to making ornaments — I watched the videos and printed the supply list to cut up fabric, etc. I also ordered the foam “egg” from your web page of supplies. I will need to get pins. when you added the gold pins to the Star ornament, you used “sequin pins” … can those be used to push in the fabric? Thank you again for sharing your special talent — you are truly gifted and thank you for blessing others with your knowledge to make beautiful things to make.

  111. Mary Lee Foley on July 6, 2019 at 6:04 pm

Thank you, I haven’t started one yet with your sizes. Our quilt guild is working on some 2 1/2″ balls for the July meeting. Can’t wait to try other ones with your tips!

  112. Susan Egan on December 9, 2019 at 5:31 pm

I made my first with a rough styrofoam ball. The pins pop up in areas where the fabric is thicker. What do you do to fix this? I was wondering how you anchored the hanger in so the occasional dog tail or tree climbing cat doesn’t shoot it across the room because the pin pulled out?

  113. Michele Schubert on August 1, 2020 at 7:20 pm

where do you find the gold straight pins for the beads

  114. Melody Bowman on October 21, 2020 at 4:45 pm

I love these ornaments! I have purchased about 3 of them I think. Your videos were awesome to watch, and very helpful. The instructions are very easy to follow, but after making one under my belt, the video finished off the beginner teaching. Thank you!

i enjoyed making my ornament so much, although I had to take things apart several times. I am on a fixed income and unfortunately cannot afford the monthly club; however, I will be purchasing some supplies from you. I cannot find the soft foam balls around my area so I will probably be purchasing them from your great website!!! Your craftsmanship is very unique, exciting and beautiful. You have a fine team.. Thank you so much for the assistance with my project!!!

Perhaps in the near future, I will be able to purchase a membership..

    • Janelle - Ornament Girls Support on November 25, 2020 at 12:17 am

Thank you so much, Carol! I hope you enjoy making ornaments and if you can join us in the future, we would love to have you part of the group! Have a wonderful day and happy ornamenting.

  117. Ginny Hill on December 13, 2020 at 7:57 am

I was introduced to your ornaments by a former student of mine. It was so great connecting with her again. I just love your ornaments and I can’t wait to make the first one. I live in a small town and with the pandemic it is hard to get to a larger city that has Hobby Lobby, Joann’s, and Michaels to get some fabric. I can’t really tell about fabric on the computer so I need to see it in person. It has been fun thinking about making one for each member of my family. I think I signed up for the ornament of the month club (the one which has a limited number of members) and I don’t want to bother you with multiple requests. I do understand your reasons. How can I find out if I have requested to be on the waiting list? I do plan on joining the Christmas Club when it is available. It is wonderful to get excited about something new especially during the restrictions of the pandemic. Have a great day and be safe.

  118. Ginny Hill on January 4, 2021 at 3:27 pm

This has been so much fun! You do such an excellent job of explaining and showing just how to do each step. I can’t wait to start getting the kits if I am fortunate enough to be one that gets to join. I don’t know how to put a picture of the one I finished on your site.

  119. marcia howell on February 25, 2021 at 2:37 am

  120. marcia howell on February 26, 2021 at 3:01 pm

How do you calculate the size of rectangles for a larger ball ( 6″) ? Or other sizes? Thank you. I love what you do…..wouldn’t a 6″ ball be pretty for a table center piece with (battery) candles and holly and/or pines around the base. Thanks.

  123. krysta burt on November 10, 2021 at 3:06 pm

    Hello!

Falling in love with this hobby. What size jump rings do you use and also I do not see the normal 3 inch balls here to purchase.

    • Janelle - Ornament Girls Club on November 10, 2021 at 5:37 pm

So glad you are loving this hobby! We typically use anywhere from 4-7mm in size. It mostly just depends on the size of the charm you’re using the jump ring on. If you use a smaller charm, than you’ll want to use a smaller jump ring to match the size. Otherwise, if you use a larger size, like a 7mm, it’ll look a bit funny hanging from the charm. I hope that helps? Also, I’m so sorry but we don’t have any 3 inch balls in stock right now. You can find those on places like Amazon and even in your local craft stores, especially this time of year. If you need anything else, please let me know. Thanks!

  124. Ila Akers on May 18, 2022 at 3:33 pm

Stacie how can I get the 3in. balls that are all ready marked for the 6 & 5 in. ? Ila Akers at greenakers@mchsi.com. I haven’t seen any instructions on how to make them. I loved your videos

    • Sarah Cinocco on May 18, 2022 at 4:04 pm

I’m so sorry about the pre-marked balls being out of stock! Unfortunately, we’re not sure when they will be available again. We do have some free guides that will show you how to make those guidelines here: https://ornamentgirls.com/ebooks/ball-marking/
I hope that helps until we can restock those foam balls.

I am excited to get more information about the workshops also.

    Thank you so much!
