A few years back, when I was originally creating the Pinwheel Pattern. I needed an easy way to fit more triangles into a smaller space...  and the 'Prism' Fold was born!

This fold will give you an easy way to create more narrow triangles, than the more traditional Basic Triangle Fold does... but, what's even better, is that you can adjust the width of your Prism triangles, depending on the pattern you're using.

This short video will show you what I mean. 🙂

You'll find this fold used in these patterns...

The Pinwheel Pattern

The Snowflake Pattern

The Kaleidoscope Pattern

The Bethlehem Star Pattern

The Woven Window Pattern

The Elf Hat Pattern

The Prairie Pinwheel Pattern

The Flurry Pattern

The North Star Pattern

Also Used in Some Crown Ornaments

Beautiful. Question, what size rectangle did you cut to make the Prism Fold.

    • StaciAnn Lowry on November 5, 2017 at 7:59 pm

Maryann, I used a 2 x 3″ rectangle… but you could do this with various sizes, depending on the pattern you’re making. 🙂

I’ve made quilted ornaments but only know the one pattern, where can I find instructions for the other ones. They’re all beautiful.

Is it ok if the fabric from the first fold over, folds again when you make the right hand fold? This is what happens if I want a small triangle.

I haven’t purchased too many patterns yet, but does every pattern, or almost every pattern, use 2×3″ fabric pieces? I’d like to precut a lot of fabric

    • Janelle - Ornament Girls Support on January 24, 2021 at 7:34 pm

Hi Christine, many of our patterns do you 2×3 fabric but not all. What you can do is email us a list of patterns you’d like to purchase and we’d be happy to let you know the size of the fabric in each pattern. If you’d like. Thanks! https://ornamentgirls.com/contact/

The Flurry and the Bethlehem Star are on my list of patterns to purchase. What sizes are the pieces used? And what’s going to be used in August 2021 ornament?
