This video will show you how I do my Basic Triangle Fold.

The traditional way of creating 'Quilted' Ornaments uses a square. I started using a rectangle instead, for a couple of reasons.

  1. I think it results in slightly less 'bulk' in the finished ornament.
  2. I wanted to be able to use smaller or more irregular pieces of fabric.
  3. And finally, I could show more or less of certain layers in my ornament, if I wanted to (because the pieces are longer than they are wide)..

Also, the technique I'll show you in this video uses one less pin per triangle than the traditional method used for these ornaments.  In the Basic Star Pattern, that's 56 saved pins total (those pins add up!).

This short video will show you how I do my Basic Triangle Fold. 🙂

I need to make a 6 pointed star and can’t seem to figure it out. Do you have any suggestions to assist me?

When you do the Basic Triangle Fold and slightly overlap one side over the other and use just 1 pin, the line created isn’t exactly straight. When you add the other layers, how do you keep them in a straight line if that centre line in the triangle isn’t straight?

I made my first ornament. It’s cute but not quite it. I was wondering do you wash your fabric first?

    • StaciAnn Lowry on April 11, 2018 at 12:35 am

Hi Denise… no, I sure don’t. I hope you will try a second ornament… it can take a try or two to get it right. 🙂

You fold the left side first. Is that because you might be left handed. Can I fold the right side down first?
